Philadelphia — Kevin Patullo, the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator, is under heightened scrutiny and likely to lose his job following the Eagles’ 23–19 Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, team and league sources say. The defending Super Bowl champions failed to win back-to-back titles after a season marked by offensive struggles and fan discontent over play-calling decisions.

The Eagles’ offense sputtered in the second half of the postseason opener, producing limited yardage and failing to sustain drives. Critics and some fans linked these issues to Patullo’s play calling, particularly on a pivotal fourth-and-11 late in the game when all four receivers ran deep routes. Critics said the decision hindered the team’s comeback attempt.

Club leadership has not formally announced personnel changes, but multiple league insiders told reporters that Philadelphia is expected to overhaul its offensive coaching staff in the coming days, with Patullo’s departure among the anticipated moves. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that sources around the league anticipate “mass changes” to jump-start the Eagles’ offense after another underwhelming campaign.

Head coach Nick Sirianni, who promoted Patullo to offensive coordinator in February 2025, has historically backed his staff publicly but acknowledged that evaluations will follow the season’s end. Prior in the 2025 regular season, Sirianni had repeatedly said the club would “evaluate everything” after disappointing losses, though he refrained from immediate changes at the time.

Players publicly defended Patullo’s character and role after Sunday’s game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts emphasized collective responsibility, saying it is “tough to single out one individual” for offensive struggles. Offensive lineman Jordan Mailata also spoke up for the coordinator amid mounting criticism.

Patullo, 44, joined the Eagles in 2021 and was elevated to offensive coordinator following the departure of Kellen Moore. His tenure has been marked by mixed results, with the offense often criticized for predictability and underperformance relative to the team’s talent.

The Eagles finished the season as NFC East champions but saw their title defense end at Lincoln Financial Field, snapping a string of home playoff victories under Sirianni. As the organization turns to offseason planning, decisions on coaching leadership and offensive strategy are expected soon.
